MORE: Projected FedExCup points | Weekly update | Movers: Who's up, down?
An interesting sublot will surely develop this week at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance. There will be 12 players in the field with an opportunity to unseat FedExCup leader Bubba Watson, who has held the top spot for the last five weeks. Watson has had decent success in Ohio, making four of five cuts and not finishing outside the top 35 when he has played through the weekend. A similar performance may not be enough for him to stay No. 1 in the standings with so many strong players within striking distance.
Reigning PLAYERS champion K.J. Choi has four top-10s in his last five TOUR starts and has the strongest resume of all the threats to Bubba Watson in Dublin. Choi has a victory in 2007, as well as three top-10 finishes in 11 trips to Murifield Village. Matching his top 10 count, but without the victory at Jack's place is Phil Mickelson, who tied for 5th here last year.
Matt Kuchar, Webb Simpson and Hunter Mahan are ranked Nos. 14, 15 and 16 in the FedExCup stnadings respectively, but none of them have a victory in 2011. Of those three, Kuchar has been the strongest at Murifield Village with five made cuts translating to three top-10s including last year's tie for eighth.
Below is a list of the 13 players (including Watson) who could be No. 1 in the FedExCup standings at week's end, as well as their previous results in the Memorial.
