Top five watch
The top five in the FedExCup points standings is important, since the top five going into THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola control their own fate in regards to winning the FedExCup:
1. Matt Kuchar Didn't break par on the weekend, but a tie for 11th was more than respectable and kept him No. 1
2. Steve Stricker Replaced by Charley Hoffman, he fell to third but is the only one who started the Playoffs in top 5 still there
3. Martin Laird Had it not been for third-round 74 he might have maintained his spot, instead he fell to sixth
4. Justin Rose Missed cut precipiated a six-spot drop but he has another week to improve; Jason Day replaced him
5. Ernie Els Big Easy isn't finding the Playoffs that way and has dropped to seventh; Luke Donald took his spot
