Anthony Kim announced Tuesday that he will return to action at next week's World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational, his first appearance on the PGA TOUR in three months.

Kim revealed the news on his Facebook page. "i will be back next week at the wgc...looking forward to (being) back," he wrote.
Kim has not played on TOUR since finishing tied for seventh at the Quail Hollow Championship the first weekend in May. Three days after the conclusion of that event, on May 5, he had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, an injury that not only was painful but cost him 20 yards off the tee.
At the time, the doctor who performed the surgery, Thomas Graham of the National Hand Center in Baltimore, said Kim would be sidelined 10-12 weeks.
Kim started hitting golf balls again in early July.
Prior to his surgery, Kim had been one of the TOUR's top performers. He won the Shell Houston Open in a playoff, and had three other top-10 finishes in his five starts prior to the surgery.
Despite the lengthy absence, Kim remains in the top 10 in FedExCup points.
Kim also is looking to secure his spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team. He's No. 4 in the points standings, having dropped two spots while he's been out. The top eight after next month's PGA Championship earn automatic spots on the 12-man team.
