The PGA TOUR travels to San Jose, Calif. this week for the Frys.com Open. Here's how the PGATOUR.COM experts sized up the top contenders:

EXPERT PICKS
How it works: Our experts from PGATOUR.COM select the player they think will win this week's event. By using a draft process, no two picks can be the same. The player who wins the previous week picks last the following week. Note: Two new experts, Chris Dunham and John Schwarb, are joining the panel for the Fall Series.

Ryan
Smithson
RICKIE FOWLER. New course this year and Fowler is the obvious favorite at CordeValle. Should be fired up after his singles performance in the Ryder Cup. Needs to birdie the Kodak Challenge hole to regain the lead in that competition.

Helen
Ross
MICHAEL ALLEN. I am going to think outside the box here and pick Allen. He has finished second in his last two starts -- the first on the PGA TOUR and Sunday after a playoff at the Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship on the Champions Tour.
If Ross had the top pick ... Allen
Lauren
Deason
TIM CLARK. Clark has had quite the consistent season and picked up that elusive win at THE PLAYERS. He's been resting since THE TOUR Championship and should be read to go at CordeValle.
If Deason had the top pick ... Fowler
Casey
Black
JUSTIN LEONARD. Leonard is close to having everything click. He had a T3 at the Wyndham Championship, and shot 66 in two rounds at McGladrey. This could be his week.
If Black had the top pick ... Fowler
Mike
McAllister
JOE DURANT. In his last three starts, he hasn't finished worse than a tie for 20th, and he comes off a T6 at The McGladrey Classic. At 115th on the money list, he'll want to continue pushing hard to further solidify his TOUR status for next year.
If McAllister had the top pick ... Fowler
John
Swantek
BO VAN PELT. New venue will have no impact on BVP, who has been on the board all year with 7 top 10s, including last week in Sea Island, ascending to 20th on the money list. Career season has yet to yield a victory.
If Swantek had the top pick ... Van Pelt
Anne
Szeker
ARON PRICE. Sort of a random pick, but hoping he has some momentum after four rounds in the 60s at The McGladrey last week. He also ranks 7th in GIR and is 19th in all-around ranking.
If Szeker had the top pick ... Fowler
Brian
Wacker
KEVIN STREELMAN. At 25th on the money list, Streelman needs one more solid outing to lock up a spot in the top 30. With top-10s in two of his last four outings and as one of the better putters on TOUR there's no reason to think he can't get another top-10 this week.
If Wacker had the top pick ... Fowler
John
Schwarb
BEN CURTIS. His good play comes in two-week spurts -- sixth at Bay Hill and T14 in Houston in the spring, T14 at the U.S. Open and T13 at the Travelers in June. He was T15 last week at The McGladrey, so he'll put up another strong effort here.
If Schwarb had the top pick ... Fowler
Chris
Dunham
TROY MATTESON. Any time the defending champ falls to pick No. 10, you take him even if the event is on a new course in a new state. Matteson hasn't had a top-10 finish since Greenbrier, but is clearly comfortable in this event and has made 7 of 9 cuts overall.
If Dunham had the top pick ... Fowler
Fall Series Standings
