Which player will have his name etched on the FedExCup this year? Our experts weigh in.
Sep. 22, 2010
There are five players who have the chance to win the FedExCup with an outright victory this week in the THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. Who will be the one holding the FedExCup? Here's how the PGATOUR.COM experts sized up the contenders:
| Expert picks: FedExCup champion |
Ryan Smithson |
 |
MATT KUCHAR. This guy has really put the flat-plane swing back on the map, and for
good reason. In short, Kuchar's swing has held up under pressure all year. Phil will win and keep the other four off Kuchar's back anyway.

Brian Wacker |
 | PAUL CASEY. He's my expert pick to win THE TOUR Championship and if he does, he'll win the FedExCup, too.
Casey has played well most of the Playoffs, plus a victory and $11.3 million would certainly make up for somehow getting passed over for the Ryder
Cup.

John Swantek |
 |
MATT KUCHAR. No backing into the Cup for Kuch, who's also my pick to win the
tournament in Atlanta. Behind the smile is a tenacious competitor whose career, once both promising and unfulfilled, comes full circle Sunday
evening with the FedExCup.

Lauren Deason |
 |
STEVE STRICKER. I selected Steve Stricker to win THE TOUR Championship, and I
think he will take the top prize, too. With a nickname like Mr. September, he's bound to win one sooner or later, right? Stricker has ruled the Playoffs
since their inception.

Anne Szeker |
 |
DUSTIN JOHNSON. It's tough to ask someone to win two tournaments in a row, but this
is Johnson's time after a trying year. The week off will do wonders for him, and no one has been more consistent in this final stretch of the season.
|
Casey Black |
 |
MATT KUCHAR. He's been the most consistent player on TOUR this year with 18
top-25s, 11 top-10s, one runner-up and a win at The Barclays. Coming into this week first in the FedExCup standings, he's within striking distance to
win it all, and I think he'll do just that.
|
Mike McAllister |
 |
PAUL CASEY. Maybe Paul Casey doesn't want to send a message. Or maybe he does. Either way, it's a juicy storyline if Casey wins the FedExCup, since it will keep alive the controversy surrounding his non-inclusion on the European Ryder Cup team.
|
Helen Ross |
 |
STEVE STRICKER. He's a two-time winner already this year. He finished second in the FedExCup in 2007 and third in 2009 -- to get the win finally would make that Wisconsin winter seem warmer.
|
John Schwarb |
 |
DUSTIN JOHNSON. Winning at Cog Hill eased the summer's disappointments in the majors; no reason the vibe can't last another week. He'll finish higher than Kuchar, who may feel an extra bit of pressure to perform at home.
|
Chris Dunham |
 |
MATT KUCHAR. It's hard to go against a hot hand, especially someone who has played so well all season. Bonus: He is playing this one close to home. Kuchar hasn't finished outside the top 30 on TOUR since May and has seven top-10s in 10 starts since then. This is it.
