Military initiatives announced for TOUR Championship

ATLANTA -- Tournament officials at THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola announced today a variety of initiatives and events to honor the U.S. Armed Forces during the 2010 event, held Sept. 22-26, 2010, at East Lake Golf Club. The activities include golf clinics, a Military Appreciation Day and free admission to the tournament for all active, retired and reserve military personnel and their dependents.

"This year's military appreciation events at THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca Cola are our way of saying thank you to the brave men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces for their service to our country," said Todd Rhinehart, executive director of THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. "I hope that military members from across the country will come out to enjoy the tournament and all of the special events we have planned this year."

A PGA TOUR player (TBD) will conduct a clinic for Wounded Warriors Wednesday, Sept. 22, for injured veterans and top generals. Thursday, Sept. 23, is Military Appreciation Day, featuring a military color guard and flyover during the tournament's opening ceremonies. The Birdies for the Brave Patriots' Outpost presented by Kipper Tool will also open on Thursday. The Birdies for the Brave Patriots' Outpost presented by Kipper Tool is a hospitality tent located at the 16th green that offers military men and women and their families a place to enjoy the tournament, free of charge. Complimentary lunches and snacks will be served.

Additionally, all active, retired and reserve military personnel and their dependents are admitted free to THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. Tickets can be obtained at http://www.ticketmaster.com/promo/syt581. For free admittance to the tournament, military personnel will need a valid military ID and printed ticket.

We thank THE TOUR Championship and the PGA TOUR for honoring our service."

Since 2005, the PGA TOUR has joined with PGA TOUR players, corporate partners, TPC club members, fans and TOUR employees to raise millions of dollars for military home front groups that provide vital services and programs for military men and women and their families.
