EXPERT PREVIEW: PGA TOUR on-site correspondent John Maginnes previews Thursday's action:

| Friday's forecast |
Sunny Temp: 83 high/48 low Chance of precipitation 0 percent. Winds from N around 15 mph. |

Winds that blew on Thursday afternoon are expected to kick up again on Friday afternoon. The majority of good scoring came Thursday morning but for those players like Sean O'Hair who managed to shoot something in the 60's Thursday afternoon Friday morning could be very fruitful. The golf course, and particularly the greens are going to continue to get firmer later in the day so take advantage in the morning.
Part of the reason that the scoring was so good on Thursday is because the wind, directly out of the west made the two longer par fives play dead down wind. Holes seven and eleven are only reachable for the longest hitters most days. But downwind the majority of the field can reach these two par fives and consequently scoring was better than expected. The wind is slated to come from the same direction on Friday so we can look for more of the same.
The downside is that holes like the par four seventeenth played dead into the wind. This tough par four was even tougher on Thursday and will likely be hard on Friday as well. You have to go low at the Viking to have a chance. Any players who are in black number on Friday night are likely to be headed home for the weekend.
