LEMONT, Ill.. -- Here's a quick look at the latest FedExCup projections and implications following the second round of the BMW Championship:

These players started this week inside the top 30 but are currently projected to finish outside the top 30, which is the field size for the Playoffs finale, THE TOUR Championship:

Top-five watch
Here's how the top five in points going into the BMW Championship fared in Thursday's first round:
1. MATT KUCHAR Although weakened by illness, he's still tied for the lead at 6 under
2. CHARLEY HOFFMAN Friday's 77 dropped last week's winner back into a tie for 56th
3. STEVE STRICKER Failed to break par for the first time in 10 Playoffs rounds but still is tied for 27th
4. JASON DAY After finishing fifth or better in the first two Playoffs, Aussie has run out of steam at 6 over
5. LUKE DONALD Englishman who needs fourth or better to stay in the top five is currently tied at that number
The top five in the FedExCup points standings is important, since the top five going into THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola control their own fate in regards to winning the FedExCup.

Bubble Tournament Comment
30 THE TOUR Championship Nick Watney fell five spots in the standings with his round of 3 over on Friday. Camilo Villegas replaced him on the bubble with his second straight round of 70 that moved him into a tie for 13th.
