Sep. 8, 2010

The PGA TOUR travels to Cog Hill in Lemont, Ill. this week for the BMW Championship. Here's how the PGATOUR.COM experts sized up the top contenders:

EXPERT PICKS
How it works: Our experts from PGATOUR.COM select the player they think will win this week's event. By using a draft process, no two picks can be the same. The player who wins the previous week picks last the following week. Click here

Casey

KEVIN NA. He finished tied for eighth at this event last year and has eight top-25s this year, including a runner-up finish at Bay Hill. This guy is always near the top in Sleeper Picks every week.
Mike

JOHN SENDEN. Two solid weeks in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup has him in position to move into the top 30 if he can play well this week. Don't underestimate him. He was right there at Cog Hill last year until a final-round 77.
Lauren
Deason
MICHAEL SIM. This guy has been really strong in recent weeks, including a strong tie for 11th in the Deutsche Bank Championship. He's been under par or better in 11 of the last 12 rounds, and he needs a big week to make it to East Lake.
Ryan
Smithson
BRANDT SNEDEKER. I may get laughed at, but I don't think Snedeker would have been a bad Ryder Cup selection. I sure wouldn't mind having him in alternate shot with his putting. If he hit the ball a tad better he'd be a top 20 player.
Helen
Ross
STEWART CINK. He's had top-20 finishes in his last four starts, which is recommendation enough. But something tells me now that the Ryder Cup pressure has lifted, Cink will play well -- and earn a home game in two weeks in Atlanta.
Brian
Wacker
MATT JONES. He ranks 14th in driving distance and fifth in GIR -- two things that should come in handy at TPC Boston for the 51st-ranked player. This could be the first year he makes it all the way to the THE TOUR Championship.
Anne
Szeker
MARC LEISHMAN. Leishman has grinded it out the last two weeks to stay inside the bubble. He had his best Playoffs finish here last year with a tie for second after four rounds in the 60s.
John
Swantek
ANDRES ROMERO. Only player in this week's field to play his way into both tournaments in Boston and Chicago from outside the number. Fearless birdie-maker who has four rounds to fire at flags this week.
