The PGA TOUR travels to Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. this week for the Wyndham Championship. Here's how the PGATOUR.COM experts sized up the top contenders:

EXPERT PICKS How it works: Our experts from PGATOUR.COM select the player they think will win this week's event. By using a draft process, no two picks can be the same. The player who wins the previous week picks last the following week. SLEEPER PICKS Of the players who didn't make the cut for our top picks, which have the best chance as sleepers? RYAN MOORE. He has four top-10s this season. In winning last year, had three rounds of 65 or better at Sedgefield, where you have to go low. Moore will have plenty of good vibes getting back there this week.
| |
Helen Ross |
 | CARL PETTERSSON. Until he shot 60 in winning the RBC Canadian Open three weeks ago, the Swede's best round was the 61 he shot at Sedgefield in winning the 2008 Wyndham Championship. See a trend here?
| If Ross had the top pick ... Pettersson |
Lauren Deason |
BRANDT SNEDEKER. He's a past champion at the Wyndham Championship and tied for fifth at Sedgefield last year. Plus, the Vandy grad has finished in the top 16 in three of his last six starts and tied for 39th at Whistling Straits last week.
| If Deason had the top pick ... Snedeker |
Mike McAllister |
FREDRIK JACOBSON. My original pick, Steve Elkington, withdrew on Monday after his brilliant run last week. Looking back, Jacobson might be a better pick anyway. His 64 in the final round last year sent him to a tie for 17th.
| If McAllister had the top pick ... Pettersson |
Ryan Smithson |
JERRY KELLY. I guess Jerry remained on the board so long because he's missed five of his last six cuts, but that's a good thing, because I don't want someone who walked Whistling Straits for all four days. Last played here in 2008, when he tied for ninth.
| If Smithson had the top pick ... Pettersson |
John Swantek |
J.J. HENRY. One of the best tee to green games on TOUR this year, ranking inside the top 16 in total driving, ball striking and total birdies. And he's peaking at the right time of year after that runner-up finish at Turning Stone in his last start.
| If Swantek had the top pick ... Moore |
Anne Szeker |
ANTHONY KIM. Since returning from injury, AK has finished 76th and missed the cut at the PGA. He's running out of tournaments to prove to Captain Pavin he belongs on the Ryder Cup team, so expect him to pull it together here.
| If Szeker had the top pick ... Kim |
Casey Black |

FRED COUPLES. It was mildly surprising that Freddie would play this week rather than in the JELD-WEN Tradition, which is a major on the Champions Tour. But I'll take him: It wouldn't be a shocker if he scored his 16th PGA TOUR win.
| If Black had the top pick ... Moore |

LAST WEEK: Casey Black's pick of Rory McIlroy was one of two top-10s (Anne Szeker had Matt Kuchar) at the PGA Championship:
