PARAMUS, N.J. -- After 32 weeks and 36 events, the PGA TOUR Regular Season culminates with the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C., the last chance for players to secure their positions inside the top 125 on the FedExCup points list and qualify for The Barclays, the first event in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup.

The Barclays, August 24-29 at The Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, N.J., once again serves as the first of four events in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, which culminates with a FedExCup Champion crowned at THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola, Sept. 23-26.

"We're excited to welcome the top-125 players from the FedExCup points list and once again kick off the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup with The Barclays," said Executive Director Peter Mele. "We're confident The Ridgwood Country Club will again prove to be a stern test for the PGA TOUR's best and are looking forward to an exciting week of action."

Notable players outside of the top 125 on the FedExCup points list in need of a solid finish this week in Greensboro include former Masters champions Mike Weir (No. 126) and Trevor Immelman (No. 154). Weir, who finished T31 at The Barclays last year, advanced all the way to THE TOUR Championship in 2009 and finished the year No. 29 in the final FedExCup standings. After being limited to just 13 events on the PGA TOUR in 2009 with a wrist injury, Immelman is still in search of his first top-10 of the season and a return to The Barclays for the first time since 2008.

Also in search of a solid finish and playing in the Wyndham Championship for the first time is 2009 PLAYERS champion Henrik Stenson (No. 133). Stenson is looking to compete at The Barclays for just the second time in his career (MC, 2007). Since he was a non-member in 2009, Stenson was not eligible to compete in the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, despite his PLAYERS Championship win.

Letzig

Michael Letzig is currently the player directly on the bubble at No. 125 entering this week. In 20 starts this year on TOUR, Letzig has made 12 cuts with his best finish a T4 at the RBC Canadian Open. In two previous starts at the Wyndham Championship, he finished T9 in 2008 and withdrew last year. Letzig was also forced to withdraw from the 2009 Barclays after a 2-under-par 69 in the first round, but still managed to advance to the Deutsche Bank Championship. He finished the year No. 86 in the final FedExCup standings.

Proof that all you need to do is make it into the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup and anything can happen is 2009 Barclay Champion Heath Slocum. After qualifying for The Barclays at No. 124 on the FedExCup points list, Slocum held off four of the world's best in Tiger Woods, Steve Stricker, Ernie Els and Padraig Harrington to win by a shot at Liberty National.

The victory propelled Slocum to all the way to No. 3 in the standings and he entered THE TOUR Championship with one of the coveted top-five spots, meaning a victory in Atlanta would have guaranteed him the FedExCup. Though not in the field this week in Greensboro, Slocum has assured himself a chance to defend his title at The Barclays at No. 47 in the FedExCup standings.

Vijay Singh, who won The Barclays the last time it was contested at Ridgewood in 2008, will also feel somewhat like the defending champion. Singh outlasted Sergio Garcia and Kevin Sutherland in a dramatic playoff and went on to claim the FedExCup. Though not in action this week at the Wyndham Championship, Singh has also assured himself of a return trip to Ridgewood at No. 61 in the FedExCup Standings.

Ernie Els remains atop the FedExCup points list followed by Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson and Justin Rose. The top five players in the standings entering THE TOUR Championship are guaranteed to win the FedExCup if they are victorious in Atlanta.
