ROUND 3 NOTES
If eight or fewer balls find the water in the final round, a new tournament-low (in the ShotLink era since 2003) will be set for total water balls at the 17th. The total through three rounds is 20. The four-round record in the ShotLink era is 29 set in 2003.
Paul Goydos has quite a run going at the 17th. He's birdied the hole three straight days.
"I think I actually hit the flagstick or hit the flag, one of the two," said Goydos, who's tied for 15th after a Saturday 71. "Yeah, I was able to call it in. Try to make it four in a row [Sunday]."
A media center debate regarding the number of water balls at No. 17 in the second round raged into Saturday morning. Originally, the number was seven. After thorough research, ShotLink analysis and debate, the number moved to eight.
The argument lay with Aaron Baddeley, whose tee shot landed at "a wall" -- not the water -- according to ShotLink. Baddeley took a drop in the drop zone like any other splash victim, which led to questioning as to whether his tee shot got wet. In the end, officials deemed the "wall" sufficed for "the water" to make the final tally eight instead of seven. Aaron, if you're reading this, please let us know if, indeed, your tee shot did land in the water.
