Q. Troy, this golf course got really difficult today?
TROY MATTESON: It sure did. There were just not many birdies out there, especially for our group. It took us nine holes before we made our first one. You know we finally thought we took the lid off of it there. And then the backside played just as difficult, but it's nice to get 2 coming in and get something red today.
Q. How difficult is that opening hole, the first, if you don't hit the fairway?
TROY MATTESON: Really difficult. You know luckily I've hit the fairway a lot, and I have had good lies when I have driven it out of the fairway, but you can draw some bad ones, and if you do, there is almost no way to get it on the greens unless you played it up the right side and play it perfectly. But it is definitely a tough opener.
And No. 2 makes it just as tough afterwards, so it's tough to get started on this golf course.
Q. You said after nine holes, tell me the truth, was it difficult to stay patient out there today?
TROY MATTESON: It is. You know, because you are getting a few looks at it, but the wind and the greens firming up, it makes it more difficult to make putts. And this golf course is about shooting 1's, 2's and 3's. Very difficult to shoot 6, 7's and 8's, so I will take anything red.
Q. Is that one of those days where you look at the scoreboard and you go, calm down, ain't nobody going anywhere?
TROY MATTESON: Yes, today is one of those days, that's for sure. I really expected some low scores but obviously the wind picked up and that took care of that.
Q. Tell me about two bombs that you made, first on 15, and then on 16.
TROY MATTESON: It was a weird day, didn't make much to that point. Just like many days out here, you know, you make one and then you make another, you know, it's just really weird. You know, you are struggling one minute and then the next minute you are making 30 footers. It was good to get those knockdowns, that gave me some confidence.
Q. Well you found your range, just keep it out 25 feet and you are good to go. Just kidding. Have a great day, thanks, Troy?
TROY MATTESON: Thank you.
Q. Did you give Davis any ribbing about the ball game today?
TROY MATTESON: No. I know that's a tough one. Obviously I walked in the clubhouse and there were three seconds to go, or 3.1 something seconds to go and, you know, they inbounded and they had 1.7, I guess enough time to close the door. What's up with the Jackets this year? They knocked off Duke and now they beat another ranked team. I don't know what's going on.
Q. All right. Talk a little bit about tomorrow. It should be fun. You will have to make some birdies.
TROY MATTESON: Yes, I think tomorrow, obviously, anybody in the Top 10 shoots a low round, they could walk away with it, you know. It's going to be difficult to do it. It's going to be another day of 2 and 3 unders. You will see a lot of those on the scoreboard. The occasional 5 under. But, you know, it's just going to be a day to stay patient and just get your birdies where you can.
