CLARO signs on to sponsor Tour stop in Panama

Tournament organizers have announced that CLARO Panama is the new title sponsor of the Nationwide Tour in Panama City, Panama. The new name of the event is the CLARO Panama Championship.

CLARO Panama operates under America Movil, the largest mobile telephone company in Latin America and the fourth largest in the world in terms of subscribers. It offers text messaging, multimedia messages, mobile connectivity, information and entertainment and data. America Movil operates in 18 countries and has more than 153.4 million subscribers.

"CLARO Panama's support of the CLARO Panama Championship emphasizes the company's support for sports in the region," Tournament Director Robert Duran Jr. "It also serves to highlight the Republic of Panama as a very desirable golf and tourism destination. We appreciate CLARO Panama's support of the Championship and look forward to conducting our best tournament ever next month with them as our new title sponsor."

For the seventh consecutive year, the Panama CLARO Championship will be played Feb. 25-28 at Panama Golf Club. Vance Veazey won the 2009 event.
