GOLF

Montgomerie: The 2010 European Ryder Cup captain imbued his namesake course with dramatic features like deep pot bunkers and challenging tee shots with jaw-dropping views.

Roman Road: Overlooking an estuary, this hillside Robert Trent Jones Jr. design, which takes its name from the ancient thoroughfares that used to cross the site, is a three-time host of the Wales Open.

Twenty Ten: European Golf Design, the European Tour's architecture division, created a risk-reward-laden layout specifically for the Ryder Cup. There are plenty of intimidating tee shots and water hazards.

ACTIVITIES & AMENITIES

Forum Health Club: With cardio machines, free weights, dance studio, tennis courts and 20-meter pool, the gym is perfect for even the most active guests. After working out, they can relax in the largest freeform spa bath in Europe.

Forum Spa: In addition to traditional treatments, the spa features the Rasul Mud Ritual, which combines mediation, steam and cleansing mud in a private room, transporting guests to a relaxed state.

Treetops Sporting Ground: The shooting facility has 15 separate stands with two clays each, as wells a Scandinavian-style hunting lodge in which guests can relax after a session.

DINING

Crown: The décor inside the hotel's premier restaurant is as sophisticated and tasteful as the menu prepared by award-winning chef James Sommerin.

Le Patio Bistro: This French eatery in the rustic Manor House features seasonal dishes like frog legs, mussels steamed in white wine and crème brulee. Arrive early for a drink in the Manor Lounge bar.

Rafters: The restaurant in the new Twenty Ten clubhouse has views of the course that complement the modern British cuisine featuring local beef, lamb, fish and produce.
