Fan contest offers chance to work with PGATOUR.COM

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- PGATOUR.COM is looking for the ultimate fan to help cover the finale of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. THE TOUR Championship, at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga., is Sept. 22-26.

Fans nationwide can upload a self-produced video or photo essay describing why they are a fan of the TOUR. Contest entries will be posted to PGATOUR.COM/fancontest to be voted on by the public through Sept. 6. At that time, the top 10 entries that receive the most votes will be judged by a PGA TOUR panel and a grand prize winner will be announced on Sept. 10.

The winner will receive roundtrip airfare and hotel accommodations in Atlanta for THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola as well as a media badge good for Wednesday and Thursday of the tournament, where he or she will work alongside a PGATOUR.COM staff member to cover events like the Wounded Warrior Clinic, The First Tee Clinic, practice rounds, player press conferences and first-round play. The winner will post to Twitter via a new fan account, @PGATOURfan, and contribute content to the Live Report on PGATOUR.COM, PGA TOUR Facebook page and YouTube channel during those two days.

The top 10 entries will be judged on the following criteria: evidence of being a PGA TOUR fan; experience working with digital media, including blogs, Twitter, social networking and/or video; and originality of entry.

"It doesn't matter if you're a scratch golfer, high handicapper, an aspiring blogger or Steve Stricker's No. 1 fan -- this contest allows our fans to use their creativity and personalities to show their love of golf and the PGA TOUR," said PGATOUR.COM Executive Producer Scott Gutterman,. "The winner will have a unique opportunity to 'take the mic' and get a one-of-a-kind, behind-the-scenes look at THE TOUR Championship. And at the end of the day, all of our fans that week will get to enjoy the winner's fresh perspective on the culminating event of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup."

The top 30 players in FedExCup points after the BMW Championship qualify for THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. FedExCup points are reset prior to THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola, ensuring a real shootout as all 30 players in the field will have a mathematical chance of winning the FedExCup with a victory at the event.

THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola is annually contested at Atlanta's renowned East Lake Golf Club, the formative home of the legendary Bobby Jones. In 2009, THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola made contributions totaling more than $1 million to charities, which primarily benefit the East Lake Foundation and The First Tee. Since 1998, THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola has donated more than $10 million to charity, both locally and nationwide.
