ST. ANDREWS, Scotland -- If Wednesday's weather is any indication, Mother Nature could be as formidable an opponent as any of the 156 in the field for the 150th anniversary of the British Open.

Jack Nicklaus said a career isn't complete without a win at St. Andrews and indeed, some of the game's greatest champions will be battling the rain and the wind and each other at the Home of Golf this week. Here is a quick look at each one (with players listed in order of the Official World Golf Ranking). (players listed in order of Official World Golf Ranking).

Forget the No. 1 ranking -- Phil needs to figure out a way to contend at the Open Championship.
3 Lee Westwood 15 T3 (2009)
He's finished third or better in three of the last four majors and was one shot out of last year's playoff at Turnberry. His health is a question, though.
4 Steve Stricker 10 T7 (2008)
He's certainly got momentum after winning te John Deere Classic, but can he sustain it after the trip across the pond?

One of three two-time winners this year, the steady Furyk wants to change his fortunes at St. Andrews where he hasn't finished higher than 41st.
