If you're a regular user of PGATOUR.COM, you've no doubt seen or heard of Shot Tracker, (after all, it's everywhere on the site, especially during competition days). But the question we hear from many of you is, "I've heard of this thing Shot Tracker, but I don't really know what it is."

Well. Glad you asked.

First of all, it's free.

You can follow most any live shot on course, in a player or group format of your choice. Anybody at anytime on any hole. If they're on the course in a PGA TOUR event, you can follow their every shot, whether it's Phil Mickleson, or, uh, not Phil Mickelson.

Did I mention it's free?

You may be thinking to yourself, "Isn't that what the leaderboard is for?"

Au contrare, mon frere.

A leaderboard provides a vertical ranking of tournament leaders including player's respective round totals, to-par score and total score. Shot Tracker provides a graphical rendering of all the relevant action on course, including the ability to follow individual players, individual groups, and close ups for either view. Shot Trails, Shot Plots, Shot Bars, remaining shot distances, highlights, stats, TV times, and more.

And it's free.

I know -- seems like a lot to digest. Don't worry. Here's the breakdown:

Player View provides all of the corresponding stats that are found in a standard leaderboard, as well as graphical shot bars that show shot distance and distance remaining for each player.

Player Close up View allows you to follow your favorite player and isolate his stats in one view, including that player's complete scorecard, and play-by-play detail.

Group View allows fans to follow a group who is playing together. This view will show a top-view of that group's current hole, including their shot trails.

Group Close-up View allows a user to isolate his preferred grouping, expanding the hole visual on your screen.

Go ahead, play around with it. You won't break anything. And it's free.

A lot of your fellow golf fans are already using Shot Tracker. Not only are they using it, they're loving it. Check out this from golf blogger Jeff Papoli:

It provides me with endless hours of distraction and procrastination during my Thursday and Friday work days. I continually find myself staring at my laptop like I'm watching TV only to wait for a yellow line to appear on the screen, telling me where my favorite players shots went. Want to watch Phil Mickelson, Anthony Kim, and John Daly all at once, even if they're not playing together? No problem, my baby Shot Tracker can do that. Want to know exactly how long Bubba Watson's drive on 18 went? No problem, my baby Shot Tracker can hook you up.

Thanks, Jeff. Appreciate the love, pal.

So be like Jeff. Feel the love and connect with your game like you never have before.

After all, it's free.
