With Bernhard Langer taking the week off and Michael Allen -- the winner of last week's Senior PGA Championship -- planning his return to the PGA TOUR, the Champions Tour Power Rankings have a new look.
Jay Haas is the two-time defending champion at this week's Principal Charity Classic. After a solid performance at the Senior PGA Championship, where he finished with rounds of 69-68 to tie for ninth, Haas is poised and positioned to post his first victory of 2009.
Haas won the Principal Charity Classic by a stroke over Andy Bean last year.
There is a prophetic aside to the finish of the 2008 tournament in West Des Moines.
Following Haas and Bean in the top five were Nick Price, Joey Sindelar and Loren Roberts, and based on performances this year, it would be difficult to dismiss those five golfers as the top contenders at the Principal Charity Classic. Roberts (4), Sindelar (6), Bean (7) and Haas (10) are in the top 10 in the Charles Schwab Cup points standings and Price is 14th.
Here's a look at the Power Rankings for this week's event:
