Course origins
The Club at Savannah Harbor is a rare weave of historical significance, southern charisma, modern amenities and natural beauty. These were a few of the reasons why it was included in the Top 10 Places to Play in the U.S. for the Millennium by Golf & Travel Magazine.
Bob Cupp and Sam Snead have designed a golf course that can challenge the very skilled player, yet can be eased to accommodate golfers of all levels. Weaving through tidal marshlands in the front nine holes displays views of the Talmadge Bridge and historical downtown Savannah. The final nine holes set up for a gradual decline into surrounding wetlands and the Back River.
The signature hole is the par 4, 6th, a slight dogleg right with trees guarding the right side of the fairway. The left side has a fairway bunker causing players to lay up with around a 175-yard shot over the marshland to a shallow green that slopes front to back. Additionally, three bunkers guard the green. The backdrop is the Talmadge span bridge that connects the island to Savannah.
