LAST YEAR: Vijay Singh made three, long birdie putts en route to a final-round 63 to win by five strokes for his second consecutive Playoff win and third victory in five weeks.
COURSE: TPC Boston, Norton, Mass.
SUMMARY: This is the third consecutive year that this Labor Day weekend event, which finishes on Monday, has been played at a revamped TPC Boston.
PGA TOUR member Brad Faxon and course architects Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner were brought in following the 2006 tournament to rework the Arnold Palmer-designed course and give it more of a New England feel, along the lines of Massachusetts' legendary courses such as Myopia Hunt Club, The Country Club and Kittansett Golf Club.
A couple of holes to keep an eye on are the drivable par-4 fourth, which measures 298 yards, and the 161-yard, par-3 16th, which has a pond guarding the front of the green. Features include stack-sodded bunkers, chocolate-drop mounds, wispy fescue and rock walls.
LOCAL KNOWLEDGE: "The course really doesn't favor one style of player, and it can be played conservatively or aggressively. We made lots of holes with choices and a chance to make some birdies on the last few holes.
"The course really has changed to have a New England-style look to it and is fun to play." -- Brad Faxon
