POTENTIAL BLOWOUT WARNING: Ernie Els vs. Luke Donald. Els has won his matches 4 and 2 and 3 and 2, respectively, this week. Donald, on the other hand, has had to work harder for his wins. First it was a 2 and 1 defeat of Ben Curtis, followed by a win over Vijay Singh in 19 holes. Els struggles in this particular tournament, yes, but it's not indicative of his overall match play experience. Something has clicked for Els this week in his dominating wins and it could carry over to the third round.

PLAYER WE'RE SURPRISED TO SEE IN ROUND 3: Ernie Els. Yes, the same guy we just talked about who could potentially blow out Donald in the third round. Aside from a fourth-place finish in 2001, Els has a lousy history in this event.

Third-round matches
ERNIE ELS (13) vs. LUKE DONALD (36)
Els hasn't had a great history in the event. In fact, Wednesday marked just the second time in nine starts that he's made it past the second round. He'll have his hands full with Donald, who's been to the third round on two occasions.
PHIL MICKELSON (5) vs. STEWART CINK (21)
Cink could be dangerous for Mickelson. He finished runner up to Tiger here in 2008 and has three other top-10 finishes. Mickelson, however, is riding confidence from Sunday's title defense in the Northern Trust Open.
NOTE: Official World Golf Ranking in parentheses.
