Cameron Beckman is ready to defend his championship and get his third trophy from the Frys.com Open. That's right -- his third trophy. Beckman won last year's event and had the trophy shipped home only to have it arrive in about 16 pieces. Tournament officials rapidly replaced the broken trophy but Cameron's daughter had a novel idea. She wanted her Dad to keep the broken trophy and keep a piece of it in every room of their house.

The Grayhawk Raptor Course might play a little longer this year. The fairways have more grass and are softer. Not as many balls will roll through the fairway into the desert but golfers will face longer second shots into greens. The fairways are a mixture of rye and bermuda grasses and are in perfect condition.

When a golfer loses a playoff, there has to be some disappointment, but George McNeill has taken several positives out of last week's defeat in Las Vegas. The second place check moved him into the top 125 and at this pace, another solid finish will move him into the top 70. McNeill joked that if he can keep climbing the ladder during the Fall Series, he figures to be exempt for The Masters by the end of Disney.

Stat of the Day
Not only does this week's field at the Frys.com Open have 10 players entered who have won on the PGA TOUR this year, it also has three -- Michael Allen, Tom Lehman and Tom Pernice Jr. -- who have won on the Champions Tour this year.
