Season in review
Jerry Kelly: 29th in FedExCup points (220 points after reset)
Kelly won his third career PGA TOUR title at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The win was exactly 200 starts since his last TOUR victory at the 2002 Advil Western Open and moved him to No. 17 in the FedExCup standings. Kelly has posted four additional top-10 finishes, and a tie for 11th at the Deutsche Bank Championship helped secure his position in the top 30 for THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. Kelly has never made it to the Playoffs finale, finishing No. 32 and No. 51 in the final FedExCup standings in 2007 and 2008, respectively. He has, however, played well at East Lake Golf Club in the past. Kelly's last start at THE TOUR Championship came in 2004, where he finished third. He finished fourth in 2002.
Quick analysis
Kelly ended a seven-year victory drought earlier this year when he won at New Orleans. He gave it a good run in his native Wisconsin, finishing third at the U.S. Bank Championship in Milwaukee, too. A tie for 11th at the Deustche Bank Championship, where he tried to keep pace with his buddy Steve Stricker, put him in position to return to THE TOUR Championship for the first time since 2004 when he tied for third at East Lake. -- Helen Ross
