KENNY PERRY: Ninth in FedExCup points (800 after reset)
Perry enters THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola more because of a stellar Regular Season than his play in the PGA TOUR Playoffs. Perry won two events in 2009 and totaled seven top-10 finishes, including a playoff loss at the Masters Tournament to Angel Cabrera. In 23 events in 2009, Perry never missed a cut. You have to go back to his first event of the 2008 season, the Sony Open in Hawaii, for the last time Perry missed a cut (he withdrew following the opening round of the 2008 PGA Championship). Perry, now 49 years old, was the oldest player to win on the PGA TOUR this year at 48 years, 10 months and 18 days when he won the Travelers Championship. Perry will be participating in his 10th TOUR Championship.
Quick analysis
Perry is living proof of how important the Regular Season can be to players vying for the FedExCup. He won twice and posted five other top-10s in his first 16 starts to the season. He spent time at the top of the standings but has fallen to 10th now as he's only finished higher than 43rd once in his last six starts while dealing with the serious illness of his mother at home. He still has a decent shot at winning the FedExCup, though, because he built such a cushion during the Regular Season. -- Helen Ross
