GEOFF OGILVY: 13th in FedExCup points (440 after reset)
Ogilvy was the leader in FedExCup points right out of the gates, thanks to his win at the Mercedes-Benz Championship, the first event of the 2009 season. He won in Hawaii by six strokes, finishing at 24-under 268. Ogilvy soon became the first multiple winner of the season -- and reclaimed the top spot in the FedExCup standings -- when he defeated fellow Scottsdale, Ariz., resident Paul Casey, 4 and 3, to win the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship for the second time (2006), joining Tiger Woods as the only multiple winners of the event. Ogilvy has recorded a total of five top-10 finishes this season, including a seventh-place finish at the Deutsche Bank Championship, thanks to opening and closing rounds of 66. He will compete in The Presidents Cup next month, making his second consecutive appearance for the International Team. Ogilvy returns to THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola after a one-year hiatus in 2008 when he was eliminated after the BMW Championship (finished No. 32 in FedExCup points). In 2007, Ogilvy tied for 17th at East Lake Golf Club and finished 13th in the final FedExCup standings.
Quick analysis
He took the early lead in the FedExCup with two wins in his first five starts. He cooled off considerably afterwards, but he will be the first to admit he has more enthusiasm now that the season is winding down. He's played at East Lake twice and finished in the top 20 each time, but he did shoot a 62 in the third round in 2007. -- Helen Ross
