STEVE MARINO: 25th in FedExCup points (260 after reset)
Marino joined the PGA TOUR the same year as the inception of the FedExCup and seems to be coming into his own right alongside the season-long competition. Marino advanced to THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola for the first time in his career. He finished 70th in the final FedExCup standings in 2007 and 36th in 2008. He shot a tournament-low 8-under 62 in the third round of the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial and eventually earned a spot in a three-way playoff with Steve Stricker and Tim Clark, which Stricker won with a birdie on the second extra hole. He was co-leader with Tom Watson after 36 holes of the British Open, shooting 67-68 in his first time on a true links golf course (a 76-75 finish on the weekend dropped him to a tie for 38th).
Quick analysis
He came close to getting that elusive first win at Colonial before losing in a playoff to Steve Stricker. Two months later, Marino, who got in as the first alternate at Turnberry, owned the 36-hole lead at the British Open. He was tied after three rounds at The Barclays, too. It's only a matter of time. Will East Lake be his break through? -- Helen Ross
