HUNTER MAHAN: 23rd in FedExCup points (280 after reset) A model of consistency throughout the 2009 season, Mahan has made 22-of-23 cuts on the year and notched six top-10s. He is fourth in PGA TOUR scoring average (69.65) and in total birdies (342). Mahan will be making his second consecutive appearance in The Presidents Cup for the U.S. Team as a Captain's Pick. Mahan is one of six players (Steve Stricker, Phil Mickelson, Stewart Cink, Jim Furyk and Ernie Els) who have advanced to THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola in each year of the FedExCup. |

| Quick analysis |
| Mahan got a welcomed call from Fred Couples last week, inviting him to join 11 other Americans at The Presidents Cup in October. First, though, Mahan gets one last chance to seize some momentum at East Lake, where he tied for fifth in 2007. Mahan's had a solid season with six top-10s and a solo second at the AT&T National. All that's missing for this young gun is a win. -- Helen Ross |
