Season in review
PADRAIG HARRINGTON: Sixth in FedExCup points (1,400 after reset)
It looked like a lost season for Padraig Harrington heading into the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational. The three-time major championship winner had missed six cuts on the year and had yet to record a top-10 finish. But to make sure the season was anything but lost, Harrington finished in the top 10 in the next five events, including two tied for seconds. The string of top-10s moved him from 130th in the FedExCup standings following the British Open to No. 6 entering THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. Harrington is the only player who has recorded top-10 finishes in all three of this years PGA TOUR Playoffs events.
Quick analysis
He won two majors in 2008, but the personable Irishman was going nowhere fast after making some swing changes this year. Harrington found his game in Akron, though, and he hasn't finished lower than 10th in his last five starts, including all three Playoffs events. If he can just avoid the big numbers that have thwarted him, Harrington could end his season on a very positive note. -- Helen Ross
