JASON DUFNER: 10th in FedExCup points (600 after reset)
Dufner recorded his best career TOUR finish at just the right time -- a tie for second at the Deutsche Bank Championship, shooting a final-round 65 to post 16 under. The runner-up finish, thanks to four rounds in the 60s, helped Dufner jump from No. 57 to No. 9 in the FedExCup standings. He finished tied for 30th at the BMW Championship to secure his first start at THE TOUR Championship presented by Coca-Cola. Dufner did not qualify for the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup last year and did not advance past The Barclays in 2007. Dufner has six top-10 finishes on the year. Next to his second place in Boston, his best finish was a tied for third at the RBC Canadian Open, where he carded a 63 in the second round.
Quick analysis
It's already been a career year for Dufner, who has nearly doubled his previous combined earnings with more than $2 million to his credit this season. He had five top-10s entering the Playoffs and rode four rounds in the 60s to a career-high tie for second at the Deustche Bank Championship. His TOUR card is safe for 2010, and his first TOUR Championship is a bonus. -- Helen Ross
