How will Scott Piercy handle the weekend? He's a new father and in contention at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals For Children Open. Piercy and his wife had a baby boy at 9 p.m. on Thursday night, then on just a few hours sleep, Piercy went on to shoot a 4-under 67 and is 11 under for the championship.

The weather won't be a problem at TPC Summerlin this weekend. It has been perfect for the first two days and the forecast calls for 90-degree weather on Saturday and Sunday. The warm conditions will make the course play faster as fairways and greens get firm, but the absence of wind should once again mean low scores.

Matt Kuchar looks like a man at peace with his life both professionally and personally. The Georgia Tech graduate won two weeks ago at Turning Stone and is now in contention again. On the personal side, Kuchar and wife Sybi welcomed Carson Wright into their family on July 2. The new baby makes for hectic travel, but it's hard not to notice the smile on Matt's face no matter what he shoots on the course.

Stat of the Day
In his last 12 October starts dating back to 2006, Troy Matteson has seven top-10 finishes. He has been in the top-30 in nine of his last 12 October starts.
