EXPERT PREVIEW: PGA TOUR on-site correspondent Fred Albers previews Friday's round:

| Friday's forecast |
Sunny Temp: 90 high/64 low Mainly sunny and hot. Light winds. |

Golfers will need to adjust at TPC Summerlin -- practice rounds were much different from tournament play. The first part of this week was cold and windy, but conditions were perfect on Thursday, and the same is expected for Friday and the weekend. The course is playing much faster than in any practice round, and with dry, hot conditions in the future forecast, golf balls will continue to race down the fairway at TPC Summerlin.
Tom Pernice Jr. may continue to play well this entire week. He is filled with confidence after a win on the Champions Tour this summer, and his good-luck charm is in attendance. His mother, Nancy, walked the entire 18 holes with her "Tommy," and he responded with a 9-under score of 62. Pernice is trying to double-dip this year with a win on the Champions Tour and the PGA TOUR.
Scott Piercy was full of confidence last winter. Before the final round of the FBR Open in Phoenix, Piercy walked up to PGA TOUR Network announcer Mark Carnevale and told him, "I wanted to introduce myself to you because you are going to be calling my name a lot this year." That confidence was renewed with an opening-round 64.

Pernice's 62 equals his career-best round from the 2005 Children's Miracle Network Classic where he finished second behind Lucas Glover. Pernice shot a pair of 63s earlier this year at the Sony Open in Hawaii and the 50th Bob Hope Classic. |
