EXPERT PREVIEW: PGA TOUR Network on-site correspondent Doug Bell looks ahead to Friday's second round:
Luke Donald is riding a hot putter into the second round at the Memorial Tournament. He switched to the mallet style before last year's Honda Classic and hasn't looked back. He says it has really helped him with the pace of his stroke and in getting the proper line. During his time away from the TOUR last year after wrist surgery, he was allowed to putt, and he has been working hard on his setup and stroke. He currently leads the PGA TOUR in putting. There has never been a wire-to-wire winner at the Memorial, and only Ernie Els in 2004 went on to win after leading in the first round.

Ted Purdy looks forward to Round 2, especially with his new-found short game. After picking up a copy of Phil Mickelson's short game DVD at a PGA TOUR store in the airport a few weeks ago, he has been getting up and down around the green at least twice a round, which has helped him shoot in the 60s in nine of his last 11 rounds. "I'm grateful to Phil", he said.
Second-round meltdowns have been a problem this season for Jim Furyk. He stumbled badly on Friday after terrific starts at the Transitions Championship, Masters and PLAYERS Championship. Furyk has changed his post-round practice routine, in hopes of staying sharp. He's been frustrated with his ball striking -- usually a strong point of his game.
South African James Kamte, playing in the United States for the first time, worked for several hours on the range after an opening-round 77. He hopes to extend his stay with a comeback round on Friday. Kamte is grateful to Jack Nicklaus, who extended an invitation after getting a text from Kamte, telling him he was ready to test his game on the PGA TOUR. Kamte has also sent a letter to the AT&T National tournament board in hopes of playing his second tournament on the PGA TOUR at Congressional Country Club in July.
