CROWNE PLAZA INVITATIONAL: Transcript archive

Q. 6 under bogey free again today.

VIJAY SINGH: I played well. I hit the ball a lot better than I did yesterday, but I scored well yesterday, so I'm really happy with the way I'm swinging the club. I got a lot more confidence with my driver today and it's sharp in the fairways. I'm just looking forward to another day tomorrow.

Q. Did the driver set everything up for you today?

VIJAY SINGH: Not really. I hit a lot of good iron shots as well and putted nicely. I holed a bunker shot on seven that kind of got me going, so that was nice. But I'm doing everything pretty good right now. That's a good feeling.

Q. The front 9 you were on fire?

VIJAY SINGH: I started off with a birdie on one, and made a good start, so any time you play the first three holes. I just hung in there. I knew there was a lot of birdie chances to hit the fairways and that's what I did.

Q. What did you think about where they put the bunkers with the redesign?

VIJAY SINGH: They squeezed it in so long. I hit it. The bunkers are have friendly. You can hit it in there and it's not easy to get it on the green. It gives you a little confidence to go head and hit the driver. They are tight.

Q. This course has so much history, what do you think has allowed it to stand the test of time?

VIJAY SINGH: A lot of things, it's pretty good. There is a lot of doglegs, left to right and right to left. The holes are narrow. The greens are very undulating as well. If you don't hit it straight over here.

Q. Did the course dry up this afternoon, did it get tougher?

VIJAY SINGH: I don't know. I don't think so. I think it's still very soft. If they can get it to heat up a little bit it will be better. The greens are soft and very slow.

Q. Other than playing in the afternoon, the conditions were pretty much the same?

VIJAY SINGH: I think so. The winds were swirling around a little more in the afternoon. If you can hit the fairways you can really attack the pin because you know they're going to stop. That's where it is now.

Q. You get to walk in the footsteps of Ben Hogan and some of the greet players that played here, what does that mean to you?

VIJAY SINGH: It's history on their life, happy to be part of this golf course. I would love to win one. I know Hogan won it five times.
