CROWNE PLAZA INVITATIONAL: Transcript archive
Q. Jason, you had a 5 under par round yesterday, you came back and fire a 5 under par round today. You are pretty comfortable with Colonial?
JASON DAY: Yes, I am pretty comfortable out here. I played it three times. This is my home course here. I've played it a number of times, but I just feel like I'm get hitting the ball too well. I'm just putting well. I'm very happy.
Q. You are putting very well, you had like 25 putts today, your home course. You just played two fantastic rounds, what's the secret out here, what's the key to scoring well at Colonial?
JASON DAY: You know, you just got to make shots and put yourself in the right position. There is a few bunkers out there. They put some new changes in. There is bunkers out there that you can put yourself into. So you either want to be short or long of them. I think the biggest key is to get in the right position on the greens, and if you can get yourself in the right position on the greens, you are going to do pretty well. Steve has two wonderful rounds. He just does that. He hits the ball very straight, the wedges well, and putts really good.
Q. 10 under par, what's up this afternoon?
JASON DAY: Practice actually. I'm going to go get something quick to eat, and I will come out and do my normal practice and try to get out tomorrow and give it 100%.
Q. Well, done, Jason, thank you.
JASON DAY: Thank you.
Q. Talk about that round.
JASON DAY: I hit it a little bit loose off the tee today. I hit it in the fairways, and I just tried to focus on the next shot. I a few loose drives and a few loose iron shots off the tee, and I had two bogeys. A bogey on the par 5 at 11 was just a mental error there. I feel like I'm playing pretty well these last couple of days. I just got to go out tomorrow and try to give it 100% on each shot and see how it goes from there.
Q. (Inaudible)?
JASON DAY: Well, I played here a few times since the changes. You know you feel a little comfortable with it. You always feel a little bit more comfortable. I feel comfortable out here. I have a lot of familiar faces with the club here. Everyone has been so great to me and I am just really happy where I am at right now.
Q. Is this your best round for a while?
JASON DAY: I played pretty well down in Puerto Rico. I'm not too sure what I shot down there. I know I got second, two rounds at 12 under. I'm just real happy where I'm at. I'm looking forward to the weekend.
Q. The greats like Hogan, what does that mean to you?
JASON DAY: All you have to do is go into the clubhouse and just look at the history and look at the past champions, especially on the first tee, the past champions, and the tournaments that they played here. It's just great that I can walk around this course.
Q. (Inaudible)?
JASON DAY: A little bit, but it does surprise me. But it doesn't surprise me that Stricker is at 14 under. You know, like I said before, he draws it pretty straight, he wedges it really well, and he putts really good. With that kind of formula around here, you are going to shoot low. There is going to be bunch of guys that are going to go deep this afternoon. It just depends how the greens hold up. The greens got a little bumpy at the end of yesterday, so we'll see how it goes.
Q. If the wind kicks up and starts blowing, how low can you guys go?
JASON DAY: Oh, man, I was thinking around, if you could put 5 on a day with the wind the way it is, that's going to be a pretty good chance. But normally it tightens up over the weekend, unless someone runs away with it. Stricker is in pretty good command right now.
Q. But there is a bunch of really good golfers out there trying to chase him down.
JASON DAY: We will see, we never know.
Q. And what was the best part of your game, what are you most happy with?
JASON DAY: My putting. Right now it's my putting. I'm going to go work on my driving a little bit today, this afternoon. I'm just going to go out there and do the normal practice that I do. I'm not going to try to come out and practice 4 hours straight. I'm just going to go out there and just do my thing and go home and get an early night and just relax.
