Vitti will size up the field each week and provide his top 10 players going into the tournament, based on factors such as the player's strengths, the course setup, recent performances, etc.
In prior years, the HP Byron Nelson Championship was a dual-course event, and players had to deal with two different layouts in the early rounds. However, starting last year, the event is now held exclusively at the TPC Four Seasons Resort, which presents its own challenges to the field.
The week will be completely different from the birdiefest that we witnessed in San Antonio at the Valero Texas Open. Players will really have to take advantage of scoring opportunities, especially on the par 5s, as last year only the two par 5s had a scoring average below par. The remaining holes all had scoring averages over par, with two holes on the course -- the third and the 15th -- ranked among the 25 hardest holes on the PGA TOUR. Both of these holes are par 4s, measuring over 500 yards on the card, and, combined, they yielded a total of only 41 birdies for the week in 2008.
With that, here are the players to watch. ...
