PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. -- Sunday's final-round weather forecast at Pebble Beach calls for rain to begin in the morning and last all day, along with some fairly high winds.

"Doesn't sound very good, does it?" said Mark Russell, PGA TOUR Vice President of Rules & Competition.

Depending on the weather, then, there's a chance the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am could be extended to a Monday finish ... or even a Tuesday finish, depending on circumstances.

Or it could be called after 54 holes if the Monday weather forecast is not favorable.

One key factor will be the number of rounds that can be completed on Sunday. If at least 50 percent of the field completes play Sunday, then regulations call for the entire field to finish, even if that means extending the tournament to Tuesday if conditions on Monday prevent a finish.

But if the heavy rains severely limit the action on Sunday, then ...

"You have the option then to revert back to 54 holes if the weather forecast is really bad the next day (Monday)," Russell said.

Pebble Beach Golf Links drains better than the other two courses in the tournament's rotation, which will prove beneficial if the rainy conditions subside.

A gloomy forecast, however, hasn't really meant much this week. Weather predictions this week have called for poor weather at times, yet there has been no delay in play due to wet conditions through the first three rounds.

"Hopefully they'll miss the forecast again," Russell said.
