Shanks for the memories: Bob Hope golf artifacts

The World Golf Hall of Fame currently has an exhibit featuring memorabilia and momentos from Bob Hope's long career in entertainment and in golf. The exhibit, called "Bob Hope: Shanks for the Memory", has the largest collection of Bob Hope items on public display and will be open for all of 2009. Mark Cubbedge, Manager of Research and Collections at the World Golf Hall of Fame, shares his 10 favorite images from the museum.

What to know about this image
FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME
In 1942 the PGA of America presented Hope with this money clip, which he carried throughout his life. Hope once said of his love for the game, "Golf is my real profession - show business pays my greens fees."

As for his relationship with the PGA TOUR, Hope added his name to the Bob Hope Classic in 1965 and became the Chairman of the Board. He even participated in the early years of the event, along with Bing Crosby, Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Desi Arnaz and former President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
