OSCAR TIME Though Hope never won an Academy Award for his acting -- the 18-time Oscar host famously quipped at the start of the 1968 ceremony, "Welcome to the Academy Awards, or as it's known at my house, Passover." -- he did receive two honorary Oscars, two special awards and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
Hope received an honorary Oscar during the Academy Awards' ceremony in 1953 for "his contribution to the laughter of the world, his service to the motion picture industry, and his devotion to the American premise."
