SAN FRANCISCO -- During the practice round of The Presidents Cup, which was recently held at Harding Park, baseball and golf came together as part of this international team-match play golf event featuring the 24 best players from around the world.

On Oct. 7, caddies of the U.S. Presidents Cup Team sported San Francisco Giants jerseys in honor of the host city. In the charitable tradition of the PGA TOUR and Major League Baseball, it was announced that these jerseys would be auctioned off to benefit the Junior Giants Program and The First Tee of San Francisco.
Starting on Nov. 19, 2009, the public will have the opportunity to bid online at jrgiants.org for these collector's items -- each of which is autographed by the entire U.S. Team and displays the number of a famed Giants player, just below the name of the golfer. Tiger Woods' caddie proudly donned No. 24, the same number Hall-of-Famer Willie Mays wore as a Giants player, with "WOODS" stitched across the top.
These one-of-a-kind gray road jerseys aren't just symbolic of the nationally acclaimed golf competition, they also recognize the dedication that professional athletes have for continuing youth involvement in sports. The online auction will run for two and a half weeks and benefits two charitable causes -- the Junior Giants Program and The First Tee of San Francisco -- which share same core values in providing character development for youth through sports.
Junior Giants is the flagship program of the Giants Community Fund and The First Tee, of which the PGA TOUR is a Founding Partner, provides young people of all backgrounds an opportunity to develop life-enhancing values through golf and character education.
Fourteen jerseys will be featured on jrgiants.org and will include autographs from the following members of the U.S. Team:
Tiger Woods
Phil Mickelson
Fred Couples (Captain)
Jay Haas (Captain's Assistant)
Steve Stricker
Kenny Perry
