Overview: On paper, this one had all the makings of a rout, and it was. You had two of the top three players in the world -- No. 1 Tiger Woods and No. 3 Steve Stricker -- on a collision course with the normally steady Geoff Ogilvy, who ranks 10th, and the 18-year-old rookie from Japan, Ryo Ishikawa. The Americans opened up a 4 up lead by the turn as they shot 5 under as a team -- winning three holes with birdies and one with a par. The Americans continued the onslaught on the back and capped off the rout at the 14th hole as Woods poured in a 16-footer for birdie and the lopsided win. The Americans were spot-on in every category -- hitting all but one fairway and two greens, while using just 20 putts.
Key moment: Probably when Woods asserted himself for the first time, making an 18-footer for birdie on the second hole. Not that you can ever forget he's out there, but he made a statement with that putt and the talented Americans never looked back.
Quote: "We played well together. He got it on there and I was able to make some putts and vice versa." -- Steve Stricker
"I think this is our fifth straight tournament playing together. We got used to each other, and Stricks is a great guy to play with anyway. We put the hammer on pretty good." -- Tiger Woods
