The United States Captain looks to add to his Presidents Cup legacy with a win at Harding Park. From sea to shining sea and anywhere in the world where golf is played, frustrated hackers have one thought in common: if only the game were as easy as Fred Couples makes it look.

Cosmic swing analysts may quibble and say that Couples' action isn't technically perfect (they also say the same thing about Sam Snead's, if that's any comfort), but it is a powerful and seemingly effortless thing of beauty that has delivered 15 PGA TOUR victories including the 1992 Masters Tournament. Of course, it also helps that Couples, who learned the game playing on a public course in his hometown, Seattle, has a sublime short game.

On top of all this, Couples goes about his business as though he doesn't have a care in the world, but those who know him the best say that masks a very competitive nature. Just ask his friends -- and he has made a ton of them in his PGA TOUR career.
