Unlike players who come to the PGA TOUR with pedigrees established after outstanding amateur careers, Sean O'Hair's professional success was anything but predictable. He turned professional after his junior year of high school, spent time on the Cleveland Pro Tour and the Gateway Tour and also played on the Nationwide Tour. He earned his initial TOUR card for 2005 after making it through all three stages of the PGA TOUR National Qualifying Tournament, including the final stage in his first attempt. He had been to Q-School every year since 1999. In 2005, his first full season on TOUR, he broke through with a victory at the John Deere Classic and ended the year ranked 18th on the official money list. In the years that followed, he has never finished outside the top 100 and, with the exception of a 62nd placement in 2006, has finished inside the top 50 every time. His second TOUR victory came at the 2008 PODS Championship, and he won for a third time at this year's Quail Hollow Championship. This is his first international team competition.

Personal info
OHair, who turned pro after his junior year of high school, had never played in a PGA TOUR event prior to the 2005 season, but he did polish his game on the Nationwide Tour where he made the cut in 10 of 19 events. He also made the cut in four tournaments on the European Tour in 2007. Steve Lucas, his father-in-law, has served in the past as his caddie. Sean met his wife, Jackie, at TPC Heron Bay in Coral Springs, Fla., when she was a college golfer at Florida Atlantic and he was practicing on the driving range. On their first date, they rented the movie "Pearl Harbor" and went to her townhouse to watch it. She sat on one side of the couch and I sat on the complete opposite side. I dont think we said two words to each other the whole night, Sean said. They married in 2002 and their third child was born earlier this year.

2009 PGA TOUR HIGHLIGHTS: Sean OHair got off to a promising start in 2009. His final-round, 8-under 65, the best score of the day, led to a fourth-place finish at the season-opening Mercedes-Benz Championship. He lost, 4 and 3, to eventual finalist Paul Casey in the quarterfinals of the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship and finished second to Tiger Woods at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard when Woods birdied the final hole for the win. He had three rounds in the 60s on the way to a tie for 10th at the Masters Tournament, his first top-10 in a major championship. He won the Quail Hollow Championship by one stroke over Lucas Glover and Bubba Watson, becoming the only current American player in his 20s with three PGA TOUR victories. International players Sergio Garcia and Adam Scott are the only others in the under-30 set to achieve that feat. The win vaulted him to third in the FedExCup standings.
