Jim Furyk is just the kind of player anyone would want on their team, whether in a Presidents Cup or a weekend Nassau. For starters, he is consistent; witness his PGA TOUR record. He comes to Harding Park with 13 career wins including a streak of at least one win a year from 1998 through 2007 (with the exception of 2004 when he was recovering from wrist surgery). Interestingly, three of those wins came in Las Vegas, two came in Hawaii, and two others came in Canada. His biggest victory, however, came in the 2003 U.S. Open at Olympia Fields Country Club outside Chicago. He is also a veteran of team play, posting a 13-8-2 record in The Presidents Cup while going 8-13-2 in the Ryder Cup. Furyk, who grew up in Pennsylvania, remains a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Personal info
Jim Furyk might have one of the PGA TOURs less orthodox swings but it has been proven to be both consistent and efficient. His father, Mike, has been his only swing instructor, and he went out of his way to thank and credit him following his U.S. Open victory. Jim started putting cross-handed at age 7 and no less a figure than Arnold Palmer once said that, if he had it to do over again, that might be how hed putt as well.
