Cox Classic presented by Lexus of Omaha: Tee times | Field | Power Rankings | More: RBC Canadian Open picks | Sleepers
PGATOUR.COM will have expert picks and sleepers for each Nationwide Tour event this year. Our experts -- Nationwide Tour producer Ceri Mobley and marketing assistant Jordan Crampton, who formerly worked for the Nationwide Tour -- will each choose two players they consider favorites that week and a sleeper pick (a player who is not inside "THE 25"). Here are their selections for this week's Cox Classic presented by Lexus of Omaha. |
| Crampton's picks | Mobley's picks |
| Blake Adams. Adams has been putting together one of the most consistent seasons thus far on the Nationwide Tour. With three top-threes -- including a runner-up finish at the last event in Canada -- and just two missed cuts, look for Adams to continue his solid play in Omaha. |
Michael Sim. The prodigal son returns. It's been five weeks since the leading money winner last teed it up, which just happened to be at the U.S. Open, where he was paired with Tiger Woods and tied for 18th. Some might say he'll be rusty. I say he doesn't play unless he thinks he can win. |
| Alex Prugh. Prugh has also been very steady this season with four top-10s and six consecutive cuts made. He also tied for third at the Cox Classic last year, so I like his chances on a course he can maneuver to notch his second Nationwide Tour win of the season. |
David Branshaw. Last year, he lost a playoff to Ryan Hietala after shooting his only over-par round of the week on Sunday, so he's heading back to Omaha with a score to settle. It helps that he's coming off his best finish of the season -- a tie for seventh in Canada. |
| Crampton's sleeper | Mobley's sleeper |
| Kyle Reifers. The Wake Forest alum started to show signs of brilliance in Canada; despite falling off in the later rounds, Reifers still tied for 12th in the event. If Reifers can keep up his momentum from two weeks ago, look for another solid tournament and a push to put himself inside "THE 25," as he is currently 31st on the money list.
Skip Kendall. Kendall is playing both tours this season, and while it's been feast or famine on the Nationwide Tour -- seven missed cuts and four top-15s -- he's coming off a tie for 18th at the PGA TOUR's Milwaukee event last week, and it just so happens that he tied for third at the Cox Classic last year, so let's hope he comes back for more. |
LAST WEEK: With ties for ninth and 12th from Ceri Mobley's picks, she made up some ground on Jordan Crampton, but he still leads her by more than $100,000.
