Week 24 Power Rankings: Albertsons Boise Open

Boise and Hillcrest Country Club will be hosting the Nationwide Tour and the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft for the 20th consecutive year. Boise joins Knoxville, Tenn., (Knoxville Open), Springfield, Mo., (Price Cutter Charity Championship), and Wichita, Kan., (Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open), as the only cities to have continuously hosted events every year since the Tour's inception in 1990.

The Albertsons Boise Open has generated more than $9.5 million for charities, making it the leader on Tour.

It should be an exciting week in Boise. In the 19 years of this tournament, the average winning score has been 15.42-under par, so expect a birdiefest at Hillcrest. Chris Tidland won in 2008 with a 20-under 264, but that wasn't the lowest winning score in tournament history. One year earlier, Jon Mills was one shot better at 21-under 263. So let's take a look at who is most capable of going that low in 2009 ...

Power Rankings: Albertsons Boise Open presented by Kraft

Rank Player   Comment Chris TIDLAND The defending champion is just four starts removed from his last Nationwide Tour win, so you could say he's ready to take another stab in Boise this week. Tom GILLIS One of the hottest players on Tour, Gillis hasn't missed a cut all season and has one top-10 and three top-fives in his last four starts. Expect that strength to continue. Henrik BJORNSTAD The Norwegian struggled last week, but don't let that fool you. He's still on the cusp of a win, and he has the stats profile to succeed in Boise: First in birdies, third in eagles, 15th in scoring average. B.J. STATEN Tidland (last year's champ) shot 64 in the final round to win by four strokes, so keep an eye on Staten, who leads the Tour in final-round scoring average through week 23 of the season. Craig BOWDEN Last week was another close call for Bowden, as he improved again with a tie for 10th. Someone trying this hard has to get what he wants eventually. Plus, he's 11th on Tour in birdie average, which will come in handy in Boise.
