Utah Championship presented by Utah Sports Commission: Tee times | Field | Power Rankings | More: BMW Championship picks | Sleepers

PGATOUR.COM will have expert picks and sleepers for each Nationwide Tour event this year. Our experts -- Nationwide Tour producer Ceri Mobley and former Nationwide Tour and PGATOUR.COM employee Jordan Crampton -- will each choose two players they consider favorites that week and a sleeper pick (a player who is not inside "THE 25"). Here are their selections for this week's Utah Championship presented by Utah Sports Commission. |
|
| Crampton's picks | Mobley's picks |
| Adam Bland. Bland is coming off a tough playoff loss last week in Mexico, but his runner-up finish is his best performance of the season. The Nationwide Tour rookie has shown signs of good play the last two weeks; he will need to keep it up as he is the bubble boy at No. 25 on the money list. |
Garrett Willis. Willis is coming off a tie for 13th a couple of weeks ago and is headed for the site of his only Nationwide Tour win. That's right, Willis won the Utah Championship in 2005, so you have to like his chances this week. He is safely inside "THE 25," but there's room for improvement. |
| Henrik Bjornstad. Bjornstad leads the Power Rankings this week, and I really regret leaving him on the table for my partner in crime last week. Simply put, he is more than due for that first win, and no one has been more consistent that Henrik, who hasn't missed a cut since early June. |
Gavin Coles. A year after Willis broke through in Utah, Coles almost claimed the trophy. He was runner-up to Craig Kanada by one shot in '06, and he heads back to Utah off seven straight made cuts, including two top-25s and two top-fives. He's No. 22 on the money list so he could use a boost. |
|
| Crampton's sleeper | Mobley's sleeper |
| Daniel Summerhays. Playing a home game this week, the Utah native and BYU alum should be comfortable, so don't be surprised to see Summerhays in the hunt this week. He hasn't had a great season, but Summerhays has fared well in Utah in the past, finishing T30 in '07 and T35 last season.
|
Michael Putnam. Putnam was part of the four-way tie for second with Coles in 2006, and he finished top 30 in 2008. He earned his first top-25 finish since June last week in Mexico, so maybe his game is coming around in time to play a course he likes. At 84th on the money list, he needs a strong week. |
|
LAST WEEK: Ceri Mobley almost earned her first win last week with Garth Mulroy, but a string of birdies in the final round pushed the South African into a tie for fourth. Mobley did, however, gain a little on Jordan Crampton and will have another chance to do so this week with the first pick in Utah.
