EDMOND, Okla. (AP) -- Officials from Oak Tree National say the Edmond, Okla., golf course will host the 2014 U.S. Senior Open.

Officials said Thursday that they had lured the prestigious event to their course, which was formerly known as the Oak Tree Golf Club.

The course's new owner, Ed Evans, has met with U.S. Golf Association officials in recent weeks to lobby for the event.

The course was designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1976 under the name Oak Tree Golf Club. The course has hosted the 1984 U.S. Amateur, the 1988 PGA Championship, the 2000 PGA Club Pro Championship and the 2006 Senior PGA Championship.
