CASTELLON, Spain (AP) -- Robert Allenby shot a 5-under 66 on Friday to tie Martin Kaymer for the lead in the second round of the Castello Masters before play was suspended because of darkness.
Kaymer had a 67 as he and Allenby took a one-shot lead with a total of 12-under 130 after 36 holes.
"I was never expecting to be under 70, to be honest," Kaymer said.
Defending champion Sergio Garcia of Spain, who shared the lead with Kaymer after the first round, was at 11 under through 15 holes.
Shiv Kapur of India was at 10 under after his completing his round with a 65.
Also at 10 under was Spain's Jose Maria Olazabal, who completed 14 holes.
Kaymer is making a strong return to competitive golf after breaking several toes in a go-cart crash in August in Arizona.
"Maybe he is the bionic man," Allenby said of the 24-year-old German.
Kaymer said the injury has not affected his swing, but that "I was in a lot of pain the last few holes."
"But my expectations were not high, so it worked out pretty well," he said.
Thursday's first round was interrupted for three hours because of high winds and then suspended.
