Jesper Parnevik underwent successful arthroscopic hip surgery early last week and will miss the remainder of the 2009 PGA TOUR season as he works through the necessary rehabilitation and training schedule.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Marc Philippon, one of the world's leading orthopaedic hip surgeons who has performed similar procedures on fellow PGA TOUR pros Greg Norman and Peter Jacobsen, at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado. Parnevik underwent a similar surgery in 2000 which was also performed by Dr. Philippon.

"The surgery Jesper underwent is one that I've personally performed on a number of other professional golfers, and I'm confident he will make a full recovery," said Dr. Philippon. "I'm very pleased with how the surgery went."

Following a rehabilitation schedule of three months, Parnevik will prepare himself for a return to play in early 2010.

"I obviously have a familiarity with Dr. Philippon, this procedure, and the rehabilitation work ahead of me, having undergone the same surgery a number of years ago, which will certainly help me through this process," said Parnevik. "I look forward to completing my rehabilitation and returning to play at my top form in 2010. I'm excited to compete again injury-free."
